Laceless Challenge

The project aimed to interpret @sergey_karlin's design using elements of 3D knitting and 3D printing, blending traditional shoemaking with futuristic techniques. With limited rendering skills, I chose to build a physical prototype, combining hand-lasted vegetable-tanned leather with 3D-printed components. The perforated quarter panels mimic 3D knitting, while a custom buck was used to mold the leather sole around a 3D-printed grid insert. Though PLA was used instead of flexible TPU, it served the concept. The final piece features a complex, customizable lacing system and colorful accents. While not intended for wear, the shoe will age beautifully as the leather patinas over time.
